From what i''ve seen gmax is strictly a modeller and doesn''t come with a renderer. It can display stuff in 3d but you don''t really get the option to render it to an image file and the quality of the viewport''s graphics isn''t anything to write home about.

Animation, yes. I think.

I will still learn it but I''ll stick with my TrueSpace 4.3.
It does what I want in animation and rendering.

i''d suggest that you stick with your old program.. unless you have a game you plan to make, Gmax is not for You.
there are ways to render P3D files, tho, which you can export from Gmax
