question : do you know c++? if so, make a simple console game (text adventure, or something)

or you could also start learning windows GDI & DirectX immediatly (preferable DDirectX 7 => DDraw)

i don’t know

Java is fine, if you want you can just use that, it will help you learning programming, and since alot of the syntacs is similar to C++ if you want to change to C++ or C later to do graphical games it won''t be too hard (you can do them in Java, however there just isn''t as many people doing it so there is fewer resourses to help you)

if you want to program games then the more programming you know the better..

Hm, So you've never programmed before?
You might consider picking up a BASIC language first,
Like QBASIC (www.qbasic.com), if you feel you're up to the
task go ahead and find some C++ Console Application
tutorials, you can't do any graphics with Console Apps.
But if you've never programmed before i don't think you
can just jump in Direct3D or OpenGL without any knowledge
of what you're doing.

Well, i learnt QB first, and boy, did that help me out.

I had no idea where to start, but VB will teach u basic principles to programming. Also, Qbasic is DEAD EASY, its just like writing naturally.

Im gunna start learning C++ now
i would learn c++ first. it was the first i learned and wasnt too hard. plus it has the most resources because its the most used. learn some basic programming first, then move to games.
