Greetings Everybody: Hello and Happy New Year! With the turn of the year and the month we've got a new poll up on GameAI.Com. This month's poll ask about books--have you found books on AI (whether game, academic, or military oriented) of use in your game AI work, or have they mostly been of little to no use? I ask because there has been a huge upswell in books on AI (particularly game AI) hitting the market in recent years, and I'm curious as to how useful folks are finding them. Hope to hear from you! The ferrets rather like the cooler weather, I think. Of course they live in the basement (where a normal family would have a Family Room or something equally unobtrusive) so they're always warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Mostly they want a.) over the babygate and b.) treats.

Heh....hadn't thought of that, actually.

No, honestly I'm more curious just because of the sheer number of books that have come out over hte past couple of years. Your excellent tome included, there's been a real increase in the number of AI books in general and game AI ones in particular..and they're good books overall. I was looking at the bookshelf the other day and just wondering how useful others found these puppies.

Besides, how could I ever write something to compete with your excellent tome?

Although I agree that there have been a lot of game programming books published in general this last year or so, I haven''t been aware of that many new game AI books. Just mine and the AI Wisdom one. I know there are a few in the pipeline but I haven''t seen the upsurge you appear to have observed. Do you have a list to hand of the ones you''ve noticed?
