It''s too bad Mandrake Corp is going through "short term" financial difficulties; Mandrake Linux is a definite boon to the Linux world; it''s very inviting to the end-user.

Of course, Redhat has their new graphical interface (Blue Curve) that might be just as cool. That''ll be my next Linux desktop I think.

Of course, Microsoft did also good things like SDKs for free and so on, but this cannot be an excuse.

SDKs for free is not an act of charity. It is a method of making people develop applications for your platform. Nobody would want to buy a platform without applications, now would they?

Enough with the Microsoft libel. Your irrational disdain proves that installing linux is an ostentatious act and nothing more.

That''s not necessarily true. Some people do that, but other, more educated ones use it because they like it better.

Ive used slackware for years and think it was good because I know how a unix system works really well now from having to set eveyrthing up, but the other day i said screw it and installed mandrake. I agree with you its awesome. Shame they might not survive for another release.
