Ok maybe this is just me, but what is this deal with slices and partitions under FreeBSD. I have never tried the os before and I was thinking of getting a copy, but then I see this section about slices and all this stuff that I really don’t understand. Is the handbook on FreeBSD.org just making the install into more then it should be or, is there some place that explains the installation process of FreeBSD a bit easier. Any help would be appreciated.

Its not hard at all. You just need one primary partition for FreeBSD. You then cut that into slices. Its like cutting a extended partition into logical partitions.
