i have a question about sound lengths and how much space they take up, lets say there is a sound buffer 65,536 bytes in length. with a mono 16 bit sound, that is one second of play? and if its a stereo 16 bit sound, its 1/2 a second of play? or are the two not even related at all?
The sample frequency also affects the size of a given length of sound. A 22khz 16 bit sample has 22000 16 bit samples per second. That means 1 second of sound would take 44000 bytes. In stereo that is doubled, of course.

This only applies if you''re talking about a "raw" sample without headers or compression, though.

ok, thanks.

yep it is.

i assume vorbis_info.rate is the khz. "Sampling rate of the bitstream" from the docs
