You know what game had a really really good design? Neverhood, can''t remember who made it though. DreamScape had something to do with it. Anyways they did an Amazing job making an entire game in claymation. These were some indie developers like me, I believe. And they made a marketing game. That was an extremely good idea, and I was wondering why we don''t see games like that anymore. While I don''t have the time (working on a game, and have another game to make after that)/money( $0 hehe! (hopefully will change when I sell the game i am making))/the skill(I''m a horrible artist, especially with clay) to make a game like that, I would still like to make one in the future. Those guys were pure genious! If you haven''t played neverhood, it''s not really around anymore, but I bet you can find it on ebay, it''s really nice

thats easy!

games cost more to develop then ever...as the production costs rise, publishers and investors become much more conservetive in the risks that they take...

Take GTA for example...it was a pretty risky game concept because of the themes...Even though the development team had a successful track record before GTA1 (which is a much better record then 99% of us "independant" developers)...they still couldn''t secure enough funding to do the exact game that they wanted (which became GTA3) and had to scale everything back to make GTA1...only after GTA1 sold respectably, were investors more apt to offer up more funding in seeing the potential for a "franchise" (if you haven''t noticed, just like movies, a lot of games being released by publishers are sequels)

But if you are doing it on your own (self funded)...go for it...every so often a game, film, music Cd is released that turns the industry on it''s head

But if you are going to seek investors or outside funding...be careful...many investors have a "agenda" of things that they want to see in thier investment...and as they control the cashflow, they will typicaly take control of the game development and design directions...

The game was created by Doug Tenaple (and others) split off from Shiny (having worked on some fairly mainstream games including Jungle Book, Jurasic Park, Earth Worm Jim 1&2) and the game was published by a mainsteam publisher (Dreamworks).

thanks for the info... Don''t know why I thought DreamScape instead of DreamWorks, come to think of it, I''ve never even heard the name DreamScape before! Haha, lol.
