How should I discribe this problem...hmm.... Well, how about this. I mount the CD-ROM, but whatever was using the CD-ROM (ok ok, it was WineX!) crashes. Now my CD-ROM doesn''t work. Anything that tries to use it says its not there. I try to CD into the cdrom and it works, but if I try to cd into a directory or open any files on the cd, they''re not there. I open the cd in Nautilus and everything is a blank file that goes away as soon as I click on it. So, I try to umount the cd. Unless I add the -f to umount, it won''t unmount. It says ''device is busy''! Nothing is using the cd. I make sure I''ve killed winex via ''killall wine''. So now I''ve unmounted the CD using umount -f. Now I try to mount the CD. No error messages. I try to browse the CD, and still NOTHING! PLEASE don''t tell me I have to reboot! How to I fix this?!

It a problem that will probably be addressed in upcoming kernels.

Have you made sure wine was closed? killall wine doesn''t always do it... ps aux to see whats running...

So its a problem with Linux, not my config or anything like that?

I guess that''s good. Now I can yell at the kernel folks to hurry up and fix it!
