If you have ever played Nox and were lucky enough to experience its unsurpassable gameplay, then you know what I''m talking about when I say: THAT GAME FUCKING ROCKED The balance, the quickness and speed it required, the 2d perspective with the beautifully fluid graphics and the endless amount of techniques catering to each individual''s preferred methods. Everything about that game in my mind was perfect. I believe when designing balance amongst a mutliplayer game, we should look to model after Nox. ---------- I am the dancing tooth fairy and I have come to take your teeth!

What would make this interesting and relevant is if you could post why it was such a great game, what made it better than its competition (Dungeon Siege, Diablo 2 etc), and which elements of the game''s design really added to the gameplay.

I''ll chime in with some info, even though I haven''t played the game; I had almost bought it at one point, so I read a lot of previews/reviews.

It had an innovative spellcasting system where you put several spells in a queue and used keyboard combos (like up, left, down, right) to cast the spell. Don''t know if that''s been used in a game before, but it seemed pretty neat to me.

Cons : Definitely not enough spells. Not enough diversity in the weapons. Balance problems: multiplayer conjurer's summons are useless against any decent warrior. Story is too linear (worse than Diablo / Diablo2 IMHO).

Pros : mana stone recharge. Spell system. Trap system. Excellent visual effects. Smart kill detection (for instance, if I teleport a conjurer and his Force Of Nature, I will get the kill). Many spell combos available. Intuitive and easy control.

I'd love this game if it had MORE spells (a Hologram spell, more offensive spells, better teleport spells, blindness, deafness, indirect, bouncing chain lightning...)

As for the spell system: there are five rows (through which you can shuffle at will), of five spells each (they can be rearranged). Pressing "1" will cast spell 1, and so on.

Trap system: place up to 3 spells in a trap. The trap activates when someone walks on it, gets teleported to it, or the trap is activated by a detonate trap spell.

Among the best and innovative spells:
-Inversion changes the target of a spell that is coming towards you.
-Wall creates a cute blue wall. It can be destroyed, and disappears when the mage dies.

Extatica is coming soon!
