If you are planning to attend GDC 2003 in March 2003 in San Jose, and you are an AI Programmer (or have a serious interest in computer game AI programming) then plan on attending the Sixth Annual AI Programmer's Dinner which will be held Saturday night, March 8th, 2003. The location of the dinner is yet-to-be-confirmed, so plan on meeting us in the Convention Center Lobby Bar area after the last session of the conference concludes. This dinner is being hosted by the Three AI Guys (Neil Kirby, Steve "Ferretman" Woodcock and Eric "Geta" Dybsand) and is a community inspired event in which we (AI Programmer types) gather to discuss computer game AI topics over good food (and drink) and with good company. We usually get some outside funding to help defray the costs, but it is still a "we all share in paying the costs" type of event. Anyway, there will be other announcements of the dinner between now and GDC 2003 to help remind you to make those airline reservations for the following day, and plan to stay over and join us for this infamous event. For pics from prior year's dinners see: http://www.intrinsicalgorithm.com/gdcaipics.htm http://www.gameai.com/ (and hit the Programmers dinner link on the left in Fun Stuff category) See ya in San Jose! At this point in time I do not know if I''ll be attending the GDC or not. Funding is likely to be an issue... and my wife and I are expecting our first child in April, so I might not be allowed out to play!

I''ll keep you all posted though.

Cheers,

Timkin
oo a little Timkin. Congrats!
Jeez, Geta... isn''t it a bit early to start pimping this? ;-)

Just in case you kids want to know what a dining room full of AI geeks looks like, here''s some pictures from the 2002 AI Dinner.

Well Dave it''s about time you showed up

Actually I start all my GDC preperations about this time of year to tell the truth...

Yeah, sorry I''ve been busy with the "Contract That Will Never Die" at Compaq/HP. Also, had to spend my "other time" getting RIPPL Sports up and running. I am only now getting ready to work on our game. We just placed an ad over at Gamasutra as well as in the Help Wanted forums here for a lead programmer on the project.

I am looking forward to the GDC something fierce, though. With any luck, we can have a reasonably playable demo done by then!

Hey, if we are at that point, we are going to have playtest parties in our hotel room! Of course you would be invited!
