you know you can get MAYA for free! its a learners eddition, so:

some stuff is turned off
there are water marks on your renders
your files cannot be used for the real MAYA.

but its free its worth geting. although i recomend you learn 3DMAX first. its way easyer.
I know a bit about 3DS Max already, because I read some tutorials. Thats why I want it, because it seems pretty easy.

Just download Maya Personal Learning edition, there are many tutorial on that as well.

You can also try ordering the SoftImage XSI demo.

Is there any tricks to get MAYA PLE work in Win98?
You know, I never see a post about XSI.

Its use isn't too widespread in the industry yet, but it's probably the most artist friendly 3D program out there. It's pretty high level and it absolutely rocks, so give it a chance if you can.

BTW, 1.0 was horrid, horrid trash. I'm mainly speaking about "Softimage XSI 2.0".

Softimage XSI is expensive. More expensive than 3DS I think. Maya is cheaper, plus it also seems to be the more streamlined out of the three, so you don''t really need huge hardware for modelling at least.

I don''t think there is any trick to get Maya PLE to run on Win98.
Maya is for Windows NT, and in fact, almost all serious programs run only or better in NT system. win9x is the past, is only for playing in house.
