Did any of you guys play this

One last thing the full Froniter Elite game came on one Floppy Disk!!! Amazing by todays standards.

Yes, I played a lot of Elite on the MSX in the 80''s. Wireframe all the way, and great fun.
Then I played the PC version, and it didn''t feel the same. Filled polygons were better, but the docking and flying just were not the same. I always crashed while I could perfectly land inside that turning opening on my old 8-bit computer.

And a 360 K disk full of content would be a LUXURY then. Most games on the MSX were either 16 or 32 KB cartridges, cracked you could store 10-20 on one disk, and they provided hundreds of hours of fun each. All those old Konami titles for example.

according to their site Battlecruiser Millenium was released end of 2001...

somehow this passed me by more or less unnoticed - the demo doesn´t look too bad, graphics could be more interesting, i get the feeling that the thing is hideously complex...

Hideously complex? You betcha. Fun? You betcha. I''ve been beating my head against it for a long while now...still haven''t "beaten" it. Though it''s hard to beat a game like this.

I remember trying the demo out a long time ago and realising it was waaay too complex to be fun. I''m sure there''s a game in there somewhere, but it didn''t seem to have been put together too well at the time.

Elite was simply the best game ever made at the time, and still is in my top 5. I''m putting together a multiplayer web-game at the moment which is inspired by Elite. There is an abundance of similar games out there, but all the ones I have found are simply not fun, nor user friendly. I''m hoping I can better them.

I was a big fan of the original Elite, but found the sequels to be disappointing because of the over-realistic flight engines. Dogfighting was simply no fun. I think a new version of Elite, but with a feel similar to XWing Alliance would be the way to go. There are quite a few peeps out there creating Elite type games (e.g. Maverick), and I had started a design on one, but I need to put my current project to rest before I can fully concentrate on it.

I had elite on cassette tape. I played the snes version recently at game on in london recently man that ruined some good memories.

4 is out next year and david is working on it so it should be good.
The original Elite is still my favorite game to date. I''ve always been impressed by how far they stretched the technology of the time. I played the Apple ][ version and recently loaded an apple emulator onto my computer so I could play it again =)

I''ve tried Frontier but wasn''t really impressed with it. The graphics were cheesy and the game just didn''t have a solid "feel".
