OK people. Let''s have a talk about reason. As you know, Reason 2 has come out a while ago, and I have finaly been bothrered to look at it. Now does anyone have the new version and can tell us all about things like Malestrom, NN-XT, and the other cool new features?

I really liked Reason, but the sequencer was a bit crappy. Have they made any improvements to this? Also, ReWire-ing to Logic never seemed to work, meaning I couldn''t use a decent external sequencer. Ah well, since Logic for Windows is now defunct, I guess this a non-issue - Cubase SX is probably the way to go.

I don´t have it but have tried it and I was very impressed.
Just the orchestral sounds that comes with it makes it worth buying. The Malström sounds really nice.

Hi Andrew,

I just bought my own Reason 2 Mac os X version for *naturally* Mac, and here''s some info about Malestrom and NN-XT.

Malestrom:
An software synthesizer.
It reminds me of some Native Instruments old stuff like Generator, or the new Absynth, though it''s not so good as the Abs.
The good stuff of this is that it has an granular in it!!!! Yeah that''s right an granular and a lot of of others knobs, effects what you can tweak and turn from side to side to create some twisted sounds.
Along all this you can run your own synthesizer sounds through it and add some Malestrom effects in it. *amazing*
Shortly the Malestrom is a rack soft synth what you can connect with your hardware synth.

NN-XT:
The software sampler.
This is hard to explain, but I''ll try to do it as easy as I can.
If you have used some of Alesis hardware samplers you''ll love this one. It''s full with all kinda stuff: graph zone display, editing zone, layers and velocity crossfades and so on...
And all this in software.

Even I use mostly a Kyma System when designing sounds and doing some voice edits, I find Reason 2 very loyable, cheap and very useful. Really great program and I suggest buying it.

Colin - I didn''t have any trouble ReWire-ing Reason 2 to Logic 5. I never used Reason 1 so I can''t comment on how improved the sequencer is but I like it in version 2.
