Hi everyone! What is the best model editor tool for 3d games?? Is it 3D Studio MAX, is it Nendo? What do you think?? Charlie McSow /Paradigm Game Design www.rarebyte.de.st

It is what ever you fell like using. As long as you can convert you raw 3d files to directX or whatever, it does not matter what you use.

As far as good modelers go evrey one has thier own opinion.
3D Max (my favorite)
Maya
LightWave
Softimage
Rhino
TrueSpace (my first 3d program, ver 1.0)
Form Z
And a shit load of others.

Hi,
I think if you have the money, Maya is the way to go. To workflow is incredible and the tools coming with Maya Unlimited are great. To work with 3D Studio Max and Lightwave, you''ll need many plugins which are often really expensive, but they''re pretty cool, too. SoftImage can be nice for low-poly-modelling and modelling of organic structures. I did the first meshes for my engine with Moray (Shareware, www.stmuc.com/moray ) which is also ok, but not as advanced as the other modellers.

Maya is surely heavenly, once you understand the interface and the tools. In fact, I think Maya is the best suited game art application, since it''s got quite many features for game model exports (Maya Builder), but then there''s the matter of price.
In my school, we rent school licenses for Maya, but it''s still "oh-my-god" expensive, if you haven''t got an ID Software budget that is.

Other than that, 3D Studio Max is quite often used in game art creation too.

I think there are to many 3D modelers that are just to expensive. If I''m right Charlie is looking for the same thing that I have a Cheap 3D Modeler that won''t make us take out another loan on our house to buy!

My only advice as for right now is to go to a download
site and get a shareware copy much the same as NuFAN said.
