SIN, COS, TAN... Where and Why

I''ve recently been honing my math skills a bit. Since clearifying the operators SIN, COS, and TAN, I''ve been wondering when they really come in handy. I''ve seen them mentioned before, especially in 3D apps, but I still don''t understand their signifigance (same goes for a few others too!). Could anyone help clear it up for me a little more? Thanks!
trig-functions are *very* important for a variety of reasons. They are an important part of 3D rotations, they can be used to move enemies in simple 2D shooters in a smooth fashion, they can be used to create and control animations, etc. This is due to the nature of a sine wav. If you''re into audio, any audible sound is made up of an infinite number of sine waves.

Any specific application of trig that you''d like to know about in more detail?

Try converting mouse coords into 3D coords and you''ll be wishing you listened to all that SIN COS stuff in school!
hey there''s a pretty good tutorial on how to do rotation with sin and cos over at: http://www.alistairkeys.co.uk/rotation.htm
You must use the trig. functions SIN, COS, ans TAN for making an object point towards another object (in 2D or 3D). TRy and make a program in 2D where a turret shaped object in the centre has to follow a circle, controlled by the keyboard arrow keys, around the screen. Hopefully (if I haven''t overlooked something) you will need to encorporate SIN, COS or TAN (I only needed TAN).
