Animation images
I can''t seem to be able to create simple animation images for my sprites if my life depended upon it. All I want (just for now) are some half-decent images of a person walking in 8 directions. I''ve tried using 3D Studio Max 3.x, and I''m not bad using it at all... I just can''t do people. Scenes are easy, but people isn''t my strong points. Can anyone help me here? What''s a good way to get some art for my games? I''ve noticed this hasn''t been talked about too much on GameDev. I''m not a professional either, but nice game art is always wanted. What should I do?

First of all, let''s forget about confusing models of people. Can you do any animation, a simple pacman sprite for instance? If not, I''ll gladly tell you how it works. After you learn how it all works you can go on.

I am new to making games and I used 3DSMAX, so don''t bother using microsoft paint or something, because it worked fine for me. But I''m not sure what you''re problem is, you''re bad at making people or you don''t know how to implement sprites?
I have no problem with the sprites... I just want to be able to have some good bitmaps of artwork to work with. It''s just the bitmap files I''m having problems with. I can do sprites just fine.

I had the same problem, and still do but I''m getting better at it. I think the best way to start out is get pictures of a simple character, and try to duplicate it (for 2D art that is, like a final fantasy character or something of the sort). One of the most important things to remember when creating people is that they are composed of a bunch of ovals. I start off creating the head, and then move down the body. I''ve used 3D Studio Max too, I just create and resize the head till it looks similar to a human (using an sphere). And just break down each part of the body...for instance, don''t create the arm, create the bicep, forearm, palm... and so on.
