Windows to linux downloads
I curently do not have modem that will work under linux nor will I be getting one anytime soon. That is unless its under $5. So anyway for now I have to download all the stuff I need under windows and the reboot into linux and make whatever use of it. Now up untill now this was not a problem. I was aware that sometimes win browsers can look at a linux file all wrong and screw the download up, but its never come up before. I''m trying to get the linux install files for Return to Castle Wolfenstein but when I go to download them the browser thinks that it is a text file and tries to show it to me. I tried using both IE and Mozilla but they both do it. Anyone got any idea how to get the damn thing to download the file under windows?

I''d say it is a web server problem, not a browser problem. Whenever you request a file from a webserver, the first part of its response is the MIME type of the file. F.ex, for a standard HTML page its text/html. If the web server doesnt recognize the file type, it falls back on a default. In this case the default seems to be text/plain.
Anyway - it is easy to deal with: Just right click on the link and choose "Save target" or equivalent.
"O Lord our God, help us tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with their little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it..."
