The latest batch of tech improvements was delivered by our developer last week. The gameplay and UI have been improved immeasurably and the weapons are now fully functional in the quiz rounds. Quiz Quest is really beginning to look and feel like the game I envisioned way back in 2020. Watch this space for a Steam demo update very soon!
What’s new?
We now have a Settings display which features a volume adjuster and a quit function (the latter being totally unnecessary in such a riveting game, of course!!). The artwork of the question and answer scrolls has been updated and the layout and animation of the UI now feels much more interactive thanks to some subtle animations. The UX has been improved so that now the players can see on their devices whether they answered a question correctly or not. We have also added a ‘Continue’ function to the scores so players can either take their time reviewing the scores or skip the scores if they are ready to continue. The final round has also had a massive gameplay update, which I shan’t reveal just yet because I have yet to present the final round to the public in any form.
The addition of the weapons to the quiz rounds is by far the biggest improvement to the gameplay. There are six available weapons, each with a unique ability that helps with multiple choice quizzing. We have been revealing these on social media over the last few weeks, but here is a description of each weapon for those of you who have missed our posts.
- Sword of Justice: removes two of the four answers.
- Shield of Fortitude: allows each player to vote for two of the four answers.
- Skipper’s Slippers: discards the original question for an easier one of the same category. (Question difficulty is an update for the next batch of tech development so, for now, the Slippers just send a different question of the same category and you have to hope it’s easier!)
- Eyes of Flame: forces the correct answer for all players.
- Ring of Truth: provides a hint.
- Thieves’ Sleeves: rewards players with double points if they answer correctly, but fines them one point if they answer wrong.
I’m so excited to share the updates with you all! As I said, I’ll be updating the Steam demo very soon and we’ll be announcing a date for a Quiz Quest livestream some time in the next week or so.
