Sorry for not blogging yesterday. Here's what happened....
Started around 7:30am, just messing around with light work. Played some Hearthstone with the kiddo, and read Day 5's entries. Someone said that Kaylee was going to want a cut of the prize money if we won... Well by golly, she's going to do more than just 2 piggy sounds. We worked on some unit balance and playtesting together. Then we recorded all the monster sounds before breakfast. There's Greedy, Grumpy, and Grouchy.
After breakfast, I did a little more light-lifting and Kaylee came upstairs with a poster she made touting the awesomeness of the game. So now, she's the PR department too. Then we rushed out the door to Grandma's for spend the night. And we had a casualty... In our haste, we ran over...the 2 year old soccer ball. POP! A few tears were shed, but no big deal.
After coming home, I sat down at my computer around 12pm Saturday and only left for a couple of hours until now. Holy crap am I too old for all-nighters.
I started the day with 3 notecards partially filled. I kept checking stuff off the list but kept finding more things. My wife took on the task of normalizing and wiring up the sounds in the game. Thanks to my swoopy settings files, it was relatively painless. She even wired up the boos-fight cut scene, so I'm pretty pleased with my framework. She stuck with me until about 11:00pm when I forced her to go to bed. One of us has to be awake enough to pick up the kiddo.
So I stayed up through the night chipping away, but discovering even more issues. Just one more fix, then I'll go to bed. Oh, I'll knock that out too. And so it went until the following afternoon. By the end of it I had 4 and a half filled notecards. Not everything made the cut, but I'm pretty darn pleased with the result. Give me a little time to test it and I'll upload my entry in the next blog post.
