Judgement Day

It was a good Queen's Birthday holiday for me, with most of it spent playing games about towers. I have a preliminary score sheet written up for all the entries in the contest, so the judging is partly complete. Unfortunately I ran out of time and energy to make a final decision, so I'll have to do that today.

The next stage of judging is to double check all the scores I've given and readjust where necessary. Looking at the scores I'm sure my standards started to shift over time as my energy levels dropped, so I need to make sure they're all fair.

There's also the issue of picking the best two games as the winners, given there are only two prizes. While it might seem like it is a simple case of just adjusting the scores and seeing which game has the highest total to decide the winner, it's more a case of making sure the game you think is best gets the highest score. The tricky part is that I don't feel there is any one game that is a clear cut winner in this contest. In fact there are six games which I think would each make fine candidates for contest winner that currently have close scores that I have to decide between.

Since today is not a holiday, judging will have to wait until this evening, but I'll be attempting to finish off the judging then. I'll tackle the problem of picking a winner by a process of elimination; playing and analysing those six potential candidates and seeing which stands just a little bit higher than its competitors.
Previous Entry Almost judging time
Next Entry I hate winter

By a twist of fate, dukeatreides076 can claim to be contest leader at one stage of the judging, due to the random ordering process blessing EXTREME TOWER 2007 as the first game for review.

And then you saw my entry which totally blew his out of the tower despite the cunning lack of sound effects. Oh, and hey. If I happen to win first prize, I'll split it with you [grin]

Yeah, I had to dock you a few points for the lack of sound. Plus your game was bugged; there wasn't any way to avoid punching that tower. And your game didn't have any kittens or lasers. Don't be surprised if dukeatreides076 beats you.
