Manticore Games today launched Perks, its monetization system for Core, the groundbreaking new UGC (User Generated Content) platform for creating and playing games. Core is establishing a new game creation economy by making it easier for creators to monetize their games and earn a living. In an unprecedented move, Core is giving creators in its payouts program a 50% share of Perks’ revenue, more than double that of any other full-service UGC platform.
“Core is already leading the UGC Multiverse revolution by empowering a new generation of creators to make and publish games more easily than ever before. Now, with Perks, we’re establishing an economy that favors creators,” said Frederic Descamps, CEO and co-founder, Manticore Games. “By sharing 50% of Perks’ revenues, we pass more earnings on to creators than any other UGC platforms, which share only 24.5% at most or don’t allow monetization at all. With Perks, Core will create an explosion in creativity as well as tremendous new economic opportunities for game creators worldwide, similar to what has happened with other UGC platforms such as YouTube, Twitch and TikTok.”
Perks is designed to power Core’s Multiverse economy by giving creators full control over how they monetize their games, whether it is in-game cosmetics, IAP’s, passes, memberships, subscriptions or a premium model. Core is an all-in-one, full-service platform that provides everything creators need, from game and world creation tools, to scalable multiplayer-ready servers, publishing, marketing, and more. Perks supports creators by giving them the flexibility to make all types of games and worlds, and be financially rewarded for their success. For instance, creators can build anything from a deep traditional MMO with a monthly subscription to simulation games with in-game cosmetic purchases, a completely free-to-play shooter or even a series of pay-to-access arcade games.
"UGC platforms enable entirely new kinds of creators and creativity, and over the last decade we've seen a massive influx of amazing new content in the form of videos, audio, streaming, images, and text," said Jordan Maynard, Chief Creative Officer and co-founder, Manticore Games. "Core brings that same UGC revolution to gaming, allowing anyone to create and publish high-quality, Unreal Engine 4-based multiplayer games in a matter of minutes. With the addition of Perks, even people without prior game-making experience can turn their awesome game ideas into thriving businesses."

No, they don't “pass more earnings on to creators than any other UGC platforms”. Second Life creators keep 90% or more of their revenue. 5% cash-out fee (minimum $3, capped at $500, so a big operation doesn't pay much). Selling through the Second Life marketplace costs another 5%, but you can reduce that by using non Linden Lab vendor systems.
