Could someone please tell what each DirectX 6.1 and up does? Which one is best. What does DirectX do and is DirectX3D any good?

If you''re going to be using Direct3D, you''re better off using DirectX 7, it has several more features than its predecessors. There is also a new Direct3DX Utility Library layer that simplyfies common tasks in 3D. As for the best version of DirectX, I would imagine that the latest version you have the better.
