Books on game programming...
I know, been asked a million times, but this may be a bit different...
The most popular books are all about Windows game programming, Windows this and Windows that, wheter it be 2D or 3D, and if it''s about OpenGL, it''s all about 3D.
All I need is, a good book, about Game Programming with OpenGL in 2D since I am new to the subject.
I also don''t want to jump into drawing stuff on screen, going (w0wz0rz, and thinking I have 1337 skills for drawing a rotating triangle on screen), yes that is essential, but comes later, I want to get the basics, general algorithms and things like that, nothing on the visual side, but the main structure, orginizing code, things like that (In C++ that is).
I just need a small list of books, I did some searching, but I didn''t find what I was looking for.
Thanks in advance...

the computer section in any bookstore is
a really really good place to start.
a really really good place to start.
Trying to be funny?
I searched the net, and none of the bookstores near me have anything dedicated to game programming so I will order some through the net.
And even if they did have how the dang can I know if it is infact what I am looking for? I won''t flip through the whole frickin book in the bookstore.
You guys are worse than the people at gamefaqs, why can''t someone just answer such a question intelligently?

Well I think the problem is that the exact book you''re looking for doesn''t exist. It''s kind of hard to give you a small list of books that don''t exist. So I guess you''re going to have to settle for something that''s close enough.
We''ve got a large list of books here. Pretty much every game specific book currently being printed is listed, with a summary and reviews from other members. I''ve personally reviewed over two dozen books, and in all my reviews, I try to give you as much information as possible to decide whether or not the book is for you.

Thank you, even though I did search, I just searched again, and still didn''t find anything that can be done on anything other than Windows.
Even to my surprise, OpenGL Game Programming is dedicated to Windows and win32 programming (read that in the reviews).
Sorry people, all I need is a little help, so I will just ask a simpler question:
I need a book about game programming in OpenGL, and DOES NOT require Windows.
Thank you for your time...

Get the OpenGL Super bible, it can be done without windows programming. Check out the Red Book and Blue Book too. There is a link to them on nehe.gamedev.net. You can never have enough books.

Given your requirements, perhaps a good place to ask would be opengl.org.
