PCI Monster II / Voodoo2 NT4/W2K Drivers?
Ive looked on the 3DFX and DiamondMM site and have looked for NT4/Win2000 drivers, but I cant seem to find any )-=
Anyone have any drivers?
Ive heard there is a ''special drivers'' folder within Windows2000, is this true? Maybe it contains voodoo2 drivers?
DirectX within Windows 2000 doesnt see the card, so i cant play most of my 3D games in Win2000 )''

G''day cobber,
3dfx have released beta drivers for Windows 2000 at www.3dfxgamers.com/ - I expect the final release will follow shortly. The NT4 drivers are there as well.

Uh.. I could be wrong but I think you are assed out. I have a Monster 3D (3dfx 1 chip) and I had the same problems your did. NO DRIVERS! I finally found a site (www.betadrivers.com or something) that had a article explaining that MS was not going to support first and second generation Voodoo cards. Something about how they have no hardware support for 2D graphics and when the switching from 3D back to 2D it would crash...something like that. That news right there kept me from upgrading. I also called diamond legacy and asked a rep. after the 2000 releases date and he did not sound confidednt that drivers would be available for my card. For your sake I hope I am talking outta my ass and they do have drivers for your card but alas I have lost hope.

No sense being pessimistic. It wouldn''t work anyway.

Unlike some third-party drivers that are circulating on user forums, our Voodoo2 drivers for Windows 2000 were built from the ground up based on Windows 2000 driver architecture. We worked very closely with Microsoft in developing these drivers to ensure their Windows 2000 compatibility despite the fact that Windows 2000 does not support stand-alone devices like the Voodoo2. We realize there are certain limitations in functionality with those drivers. It is 3dfx''s responsibility first and foremost to provide a stable drivers for our products. We are also bound by certain licensing agreements with Microsoft concerning what we can and cannot release to the public and how those releases can be made. However, the grounds well from users requesting modified NT 4 drivers is also something we cannot ignore. Therefore, we will soon be releasing our own modified NT 4.0 drivers for the Voodoo2 that will run under Windows 2000. In doing so we must state unequivocally that these are beta NT 4.0 drivers provided by 3dfx, and users running these drivers under Windows 2000 do so at their own risk. 3dfx makes no warranty of suitability for these drivers and our Tech Support department will not be able to answer any
questions about these drivers. These new beta drivers should provide Glide/OpenGL and SLI support without the need for an additional monitor and will be released within the next day or two.
"
Anyhow, the basic problem was, the drivers that were shipped orginally required an extra monitor to be attached to the V2, and it didn''t support OpenGL or Glide... In addition, SLI mode wasn''t supported due to the way it worked.. I believe drivers were posted, I think here:

I hope that does it.. tell me how it goes..
