I recommend VB as a first language. I started with that too.
In VB, it''s easy, and GUI will be created with less coding. If you are new to programming, then you may get fed up with a language, if you are stuck.
Clear some programming concept with VB and then C/C++. Since for C/C++, its a huge world out there.
What ever language you choose, remember to clear programming concepts like for loops etc.
