washing texture filenames in 3d studio
Hi.
I''ve suddenly run into a problem here. I use 3D Studio 4 to model stuff, and export to .3ds for loading into other stuff.
the problem is, I''m sitting here with a rather huge model that uses textures with long filenames, something .3ds does not support. this is not a problem in it self, but when I export to .3ds now, the filename references (sorry if I''m not using the proper lingo -- I don''t know much about max'' internals) are truncated rather than falling back to the name mangled 8.3 filenames (the foo~1.jpg thing).
any suggestions? I''ve tried locating plugins or max-scripts that can do this, but so far I''ve drawn blanks.
