Do you think it could be part of a portfolio to introduce me to the game industry? Does it have the required quality? Thanks. http://www.terra.es/personal/tayete/soldier.jpg OOPS! Wrong forum...intended to be at the visual arts one. Edited by - tayete on April 3, 2002 7:10:07 AM

The quality is very good but it does not look like game graphics...It looks like a picture on the cover of a romance novel (I don''t mean this in a bad way).

It defenetly a quality piece of work. It doesn''t matter if it doesn''t really is a game concept piece, as long as it shows your skills. Defenetly make sure you place different styles and types of drawings on your portfolio. Someone who''s only able to draw one style or one specific type of drawings isn''t worth much in the industry.

It´s good, and as Hypno said, a portfolio should primarily show off your skills which I think this piece does pretty well. Just make sure to have some pieces in there which show your interest and enthusiasm for the gaming world (3d stuff, texturing, sprites, concept art, etc.).
It''s pretty nice, but the concept of a young childishly innocent looking guy as a soldier is pretty cliché and impossible but meh, you draw fuggen well!

I think it looks very good. But it would probably be best to present at least a few examples of your work, all varied. You''d want to show your versatility. Someone might wonder if you''re mainly good at just doing people, for example. Or if you can present a good variety of faces or just that one you did with the soldier.

Thanks for your comments! Well, I posted this image just to show if the quality is in the low-medium range to be shown in a portfolio. Obviously it is not the best thing to show for a videogame, but it is just to show that appart from painting mechas, robots, dwarves and those fantasy thingies, I can deal too with "realistic" stuff...

By the way JELLOCACA...did you know the average age at Vietnam was 19? I should post a picture of myself at that age ...even more childish than this guy! Just take a look at some of the photos from the WWII of captured Germans (around 16 y.o. in the latest months of the war), or some of the Allies at Anzio (18-19). Thank you very much for your comment about my skills!

TAYETE: well I''ll be damned. I allways thought that it would take a broken spirit to be able to kill.

Well, when I think of it, I could''ve killed too at that age.... i don''t know.... >:D
