.3ds animation?????????
There seems to be very little information on loading animation information from a .3ds file. I''ve managed to load the animation info if an entire object is translated or rotated, but what about bones(or joints) where when a bone moves it is possible that only some of the vertices of an object are effected. I have looked at several files showing the file format and have not seen anything that seemed to point to bones or joints in the file. I have only found one animation tutorial at gametutorials.com for loading .3ds animation and you have to buy a cd to get it, but this tutorial does not use bones.
So i guess my purpose for this is to see if anyone knows the information i am looking for?
Thanks

havend you read through the entire post?
Well ok, I created a model with bones that animated and exported it to a .3ds file. Then when I imported that same file the bones were not there????? So how are you supposed to do animation like that used in the milkshape3d skeleton animation tutorials???
I''m currently working on the same project
Only I am using ASE.
The bones are just exported as an object with the vertex weights..
So if you just load it in al the bones should be drawn as diamond shaped objects...
Then you need to add the vertex weights to it.. but that''s something I''m workin on
