Ok, here is what is going on. I tried to download Apache, but I didnt get Binary, so I went and got Binary. But it still wanted me to install it. Is there any other, easier, way to turn my Linux/Mandrake box into a server?
If you don''t install server software, your machine will never act as a server. Get a rpm, install it, CONFIGURE http and there you got.

Mandrake has Apache RPMS, just look at your CD. Use the Mandrake package installer and you won''t have to bother with any configs. Once it''s intalled, type 127.0.0.1 in your browser and you should see the default apache web page, if it doesn''t work, type at the command prompt, "apachectl start" ( of course, you need to be root to install and run the last command... Oh and don''t put the double-quotes )...

"And that''s the bottom line cause I said so!"
