Creatures? Which to buy?

I have been reading a little about "Creatures" after seeing it addressed on Ferretman''s site. After having putzed with the Sims for a while, I wanted to look into Creatures to see what it is all about. However, as is usually the case when jumping into an established franchise title, I didn''t know which one to go with. The original Creatures is available for under $10 so it wouldn''t kill me to start with that. If I were to go with the 3rd one, though, would I be lost? Is it better to start with the first one at all or are the subsequent ones purely additive releases? I figure if that were the case, there wouldn''t be a "Trilogy" title available... what''s up with that? Anyway, reviews and suggestions as to which to start with would be appreciated. Try Creatures3. It is much easier than the others, and it is also the best.

Download the Creatures Docking Station first. Its like the demo of Creatures. It will give you a better idea as to what to expect from this game. If you decide to buy it, i suggest just going with 3.
Manufacturing metaphores in my melancholy mind.
Actually picked up a $10 copy of the original and I have "Beavis" playing on the elevators in the background.

This may be a bit off topic... but about 2-3 years ago I remember hearing about a ''game'' that would generate ''monsters''.

This in an of itself isn''t too unique, but they were generated from music CD''s. You could then take this ''monster'' into ''battle'' with other ''monsters'' --- I thought they ideal was cool then and after reading these post... my memory was sparked.

Anyone know what game this was? Or even heard of something like it?

Exactly. In fact, I remember them talking about a couple of songs that they had tested... one of them was something from Metalica and the other was from Jewel... Jewel was kicking some serious butt.... which when you think about it is really funny.

Anyway, I'm looking for it... If anyone finds the game let me know!
