Book = AI Game Programming Wisdom (with CD-ROM) I''ve been searching for a good book on AI programming and this one seems to cover a lot of topics. Here is a quote fro amazon on what it covers: Topics Covered: General AI Architectures, Micro Threads for Agents, State Machines, Fuzzy State Machines, Rule Based Systems, Level-of-Detail AI, Data-Driving AI, Scripting Language Issues, Designing Agent Personalities, Managing Goals/ Planning, Extensible AI-Bots, Trigger Systems, Influence Mapping, Tactical Assessment, A* Pathfinding, Formations, Flocking, Agent Cooperation, Squad Based Tactics, Expert Systems, Machine Learning, Fuzzy Logic, Genetic Algorithms, Neural Networks, Bayesian Networks industry. How relavant is this to actual game making? Is there something else that I should be looking for?

I sincerely think your question reflects the need for an adjustment in thinking. Forgive me, but I don''t think there is any such thing as something relevant to game making.

The innovator will take that which he knows, that which he is inspired by, that which will give him an edge, that which hasn''t been done before because others thought it wasn''t relevant, and that which requires deeper and broader research than provided in books providing relevant information, and build a better game.

I hope what you gained from my remark is that such a book may indeed be a good book whether any of its topic are really used in games in practice or not. And likewise, numerous AI techniques not used in games nor covered in that book might also be worthwhile to learn, research and study.
