Nice to see John posting another article - they''re always a good read. Might comment more once I''ve read it.

to make a link you just use the some simple HTML. Here''s the syntax:

a href="http://www.gamasutra.com/features/20020204/hopson_01.htm"

This line has to be surrounded by a less than sign (shift+,) on the left and a greater than sign (shift+.) on the right. What ever text comes after this will link to the site defined in the tag. To stope end you type:

/a

Again this needs to be surrounded by the less than sign and greater than sign. I can''t type it or it will disappear (because it will be an HTML tag) Well, hope you understand. This has been my mini HTML lesson for today.

Why not use escapes? Here''s the most useful ones for SGML/XML applications (such as HTML, SVG, and others):

Hey, there was no offence intended. I thought everyone on these places knew HTML these days. Either way, scout958 posted the details.

Sorry... I should have smilied it. I was saying ''bite me'' because you pointed out something that was so bloody obvious.

Anyway...

...the article in this case is all very true, but also pretty damn obvious if you think about it. It boils down to, "players do what they believe will benefit them the most". It just happens to go a bit deeper into the details than perhaps a lot of people tend to.

And this was the primary basis of my argument with Dauntless about game balancing. By going off on his rants that R/P/S doesn''t work and games should not be balanced, he is setting himself up for situations where the player discovers the very narrow path to success and never strays from it. The player needs the options and allusion that there MIGHT be a better way if he just tries a few things differently every time.

THAT is what Intrinsic Algorithm is all about...
