I think it''s the type of question you''re asking. Something like "how to create a level-editor" is something you must figure out yourself. But something like "On some videocards the colors are messed up" fits into this forum ''cause not everyone knows that there are different (555,556 24bpp,32bpp) videomodes for each card.
I have 2 points of view:
1) As an experienced low level coder in MS-DOS and 32 bits windows/DOS, also worked with VESA.
2) As a newbee (beginning to advance) to windows programming (/w directX).
The difference between DOS and windows programming is that windows programming requires much more knowledge than intelligence IMHO.
There are lots of directdraw resources here, but far too few about the other components like directinput.

Yep, I agree. No one ever writes about the other components though. We''d gladly post any articles on subjects not well-covered now.
