FIRST PROJECT MUST SEE A --->SHORT PROJECT<---
Take note that a first project can be a failure and never finished (is 80% common to happens it), so spend a year in a project good-for-nothing is not recomended.
For this a RPG is not a good pun, because is a long a complicated project.

And now, a reading from the Bible of Dwarf:
"A game coder is not truely a game coder unless that game coder has coded useless garbage that was once seemingly the best, but is now the worst."
In short, don''t expect to create a game your first time out. Expect to write approximately 62.61% of a game, quit for another idea, then write approximately 21.88% of that game.
In the end, you should have more ideas that were 20-40% complete than any that were 80-100% complete.
Take it from the coders.
We know.

Complete amatures whose only relevant skill is programming undertake to design games with no further preparation than their own experience as game players. Those who overrate their own understanding undercut their own potential for learning.

now I feel bad towards our dear heart-warmed poster, we''ve given him six replies and no-one has said anything directly pertinent except for Axe with Dwarf.

Ummm... one good tip is to actually have an idea, not just spells and enchanted land and stuff

Where did you come up with these numbers?

Things like types of battle system and graphics are subjective at best. You aren''t going to get three people to agree on the same thing. You have to use what *you* like. What RPG''s have *you* enjoyed playing? Play a couple new ones. Find a mechanic that you liked, and shamelessly rip it off. Find one that you didn''t like, figure out why you didn''t like it, and make it better.
Take care,
Bill
