Installing Mandrake Linux on Win2k Comp
Ok, right now I''m running Win2k Pro on my HD. My HD is 40 GB, with the first partition being about 35 GB and the second one being about 5 GB (partitioned so stupid because that''s the way it came, the second one is supposed to be a backup partition and I just never changed it).
Now, my question is I want to install Mandrake 8.1, but will it work if I install it on the second partition even though it''s not in the first 1024 cylinders?

Of course it will...

If it is new enough to come with win2k, then it will work fine. The problem with 1024 cylinders was because older computers couldn''t boot past that point, however any computer with a halfway modern bios should work just fine.
BTW, i doubt you were asking this, but you should look into getting a copy of partition magic so you can dynamically resize your partitions to a better size without losing any information. I love partion magic It is possible to repartion without losing data without partition magic, but it ain''t pretty.
