Ive tried to find information on neural networks on the internet but found it hard to figure out the concept, could someone please explain to me how artificial neural networks work?

This site has code for eight different types of neural nets. It claims that it''s ANSI compliant, but the main function returns void. A silly error, but other than that, perfect. Gamedev.net should have a reference to it.

My favorites are the Hopfield, and the Counterpropagation Network
Chess is played by three people. Two people play the game; the third provides moral support for the pawns. The object of the game is to kill your opponent by flinging captured pieces at his head. Since the only piece that can be killed is a pawn, the two armies agree to meet in a pawn-infested area (or even a pawn shop) and kill as many pawns as possible in the crossfire. If the game goes on for an hour, one player may legally attempt to gouge out the other player's eyes with his King.

You could try my site (www.gameai.com) and click on the Neural Networks and Fuzzy Logic link at the bottom. There are some excellent NN links there, including one to a superb tutorial by Mat Buckland.
