What''s the difference among D3DIM, D3DRM, and other variations (are there other variations?)? I was just wondering... I''ve never worked with D3D yet, but I was going to start taking a look at it, so I thought I''d just better know the differences. Thanks guys and gals. ColdfireV

D3DIM (Immediate Mode) allows you to work directly with the hardware. Basically it''s a triangle renderer. D3DRM (Retained Mode) is much higher level. It keeps track of all the world information, loads in models, etc. Unfortunately Direct3D Retained Mode is slow and no longer being worked on by microsoft. So your best bet is to learn D3DIM.
