Good sound program
Okey i''ve come to the phase where my game need sounds, so my question is what is your suggestion for a good and free soundprogram? I just want to make some simple music nothing special. And preferably being able to save to .mid or .wav or even .mp3.
Thank you.

It depends on what you want to do! If you want to record accoustic instruments such as guitars and keyboards you need a multitrack audio program like Cubase or Logic Audio (N-track is a good shareware one)
If you want to do electronic-y game music then beg, borrow or steal (maybe not steal) a copy of fruityloops. It lets you sequence .wav files and make melodies, drum lines, bass lines, as well as use VST synths and millions and trillions of other cool things.
But, if you want to do it free - I personally come from the ol'' tracker school of game music. Trackers were invented in the days of the demo crews (c-64 and Amiga etc). They are really fun to use, and easy (enough) to code a render engine in your game. I used to use FastTracker (which is still around I''m sure - its a DOS program). There are some Windows trackers, you''ll have to search. Also there is a cool free prog called Buzz - which is like a tracker, but a bit mad.

I think that someone should really post an article about this somewhere...the amount of times that ppl ask for ''good music-making programs'' and we all suggest various midi or mod progs...anyway, ModPlug Tracker is a good Windows tracker - very powerful, but personally I just haven''t really got used to it. I prefer Impulse Tracker myself - it''s DOS, but it''s damned powerful. Fast Tracker 2 is much easier to learn, but less powerful than the others.
Anyway, checkout:
http://www.modplug.com (ModPlug Tracker/Player - undergoing update at the moment, so wait a few days)
http://www.noisemusic.org/it/ (Impulse tracker)
http://www.starbreeze.com/ (Fast Tracker 2)
I''m no expert on Midi, so I''ll leave that to other people...

You know, instead of trying to find, download and learn another program, you could just let one of the many up-and-coming musicians on this forum give you a few tunes for your game in exchange for the experience and their name in the credits. I''m sure if you post an ad for an amateur composer, you''d get a few replies.

Thanks for all the replys! Really appreciate it.
As for the "hire a musician", that might be a good idea, althoug my game is just a *SIMPLE* Pong clone (which i''m working on to get it more "modern").
But hey, if anyone is interested in makin some "blip-blop" music I''d definately be grateful.
What I need is:
- Some kind of music, not too fast not too slow
- Some sound when the ball hits the "paddel" and when the ball hits the edge of the screen.
- Some menu-like sound
- Some highscore sound
Thank you very much! (I know this hire thing probably should have been in "help wanted" but I''ll give it a shot here first.)
