Seeking Feedback on Top-Down Survival Hot Rod Game Concept

Hello there everyone!

Apologies, I'm new here and I hope I'm sharing this request in the correct channel.
My logic was that since it's the starting point, but I'm also new to this, “For Beginners” would be the best place to start.

I'm working on a unique top-down survival game and would love to get your thoughts on the concept.
Imagine a game similar to Vampire Survivors, but with a twist: you play as a hotrod or various other beefed-up vehicles! Your power-ups come in the form of new weapons, engines, and car parts, adding a fun and unique layer to the traditional survival gameplay.

The game will be set in an open world that's procedurally generated to keep each playthrough fresh and exciting.
I'm aiming for a balance between familiar survival elements and the thrill of vehicular combat and customization.

I'd appreciate any feedback on this concept, especially in terms of:

  • How to balance survival mechanics with the fast-paced nature of vehicular combat.
  • Ideas for unique power-ups or car parts that would add depth to the gameplay.
  • Suggestions for making the open-world environment feel dynamic and engaging.
  • Is this something you would personally be interested in playing (and hopefully some detail on why yes or no).

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions.
I'm really looking forward to hearing back from everyone here!

Your logic is unassailable, but we so rarely have actual game design questions in the Game Design and Theory forum that we prefer that game design questions go there. Accordingly, this has been moved to the Game Design and Theory forum. Here's hoping you get some good feedback to your game design questions!
