Can Unreal Engine's Paper2D work for my game?

I have seen everyone going for Godot now. Still, i don't trust much in Godot as i don't see how it should become the “unity 2” and EVERYONE should use it if they want to make 2d games.

I want to give UE's 2d capabilities a try and see if i can do something with it.

I also aim for it because my game has a "2d game with shaders" aesthetic. To give you an idea, google “Terraria with shaders”. That's how i want to make my game, as few entirely 2d games have realistic lighting.

It also draws stuff from “Paper-like 2D” styled games. Yeah… Picture Symphony of the Night. It has 3d stuff on it like backgrounds, the save room, etc.

I have read that it is poorly mantained, so what other alternatives can i try? (please, no Unity/Godot)

<void> -Cato or some other dude idk

This is not a Game Design question, so it was off-topic in the Game Design and Theory forum. What is Game Design? This thread has been moved to the For Beginners forum.
