Still looking to volunteer

Hi everyone,

I'm still looking to volunteer and I think I should preface it with the following statements.

I am still quite green but have some experience with Unity and C# (http://chrisfoose.medium.com).

I would prefer to work with people more experienced with myself so I can learn best practices.

Some people who have reached out to me are having me as a sole programmer and some with really vague requests. Like, I suppose coding a whole game from scratch and somehow giving credit to them for something?

Hi chrisfoose,

We are always looking for more programmers over at Space Station 3D. We have a small but active developer community and a fairly decent community following. Tasks to attempt are listed on our github, so you are free to find one that matches your interest and experience. A lot of the existing code is very well structured, so there's plenty of opportunity to learn from that.

If you're interested, join our discord at https://discord.gg/3ny9tdH.

Cheers!

We gave you a chance to join our team of professionals but you kept quiet, so what do you expect from people inviting you into their team? Whatever your answer is, you have to bring some communication skills at least ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@paladinrjp Hey! Thanks for the Discord link. Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. If you want to reach out I'm at ev11lchris#9332

@Shaarigan Oops, sorry! Do you have a Discord server? I'd love to check you guys out!

@chrisfoose Sorry about the broken link! This one should work: https://discord.gg/myKf4v3j . Failing that, the website is https://ss3d.space/ so you should be able to find a working link there.

I'm amused at all the broken links posted by, ahem, programmers in this thread. It's not rocket surgery guys.

@fleabay I'm glad I've at least given you some light amusement, but a bit frustrated that those last links didn't work. I think I'll give up now rather than embarrass myself further by attempting a third time!

All you have to do is make sure no errant characters make their way into a posted clickable link. But it looks like that last Discord link has been fixed anyway…

@paladinrjp Forum posting can be a pain. Just use the ‘chain link’ icon and put in the url and don't try to highlight text and make a hypertext link.
