Hi Everyone,

So stereo-typically I had an idea for some software.  I got my ideas on paper and developed them myself abit before eventually deciding it has legs and started outsourcing the stuff that was way beyond my skillset.  Ive already put a fair amount of investment into the project and have two prototypes which prove the core features work which is great!.

However One area I have next to no knowledge myself is Networking/Servers etc and thus its very difficult to design something and get the requirements worked out when you don't know too much about whats required in the first place. So Im looking to speak to an adviser or consultant who I can talk to about my ideas (in confidence) who knows his/hers stuff and can advice what I can do, what can't be done as well as the set-up requirements (server side) and how much it would potentially cost.

The problem is I can't even figure out who to look for and where to find them?

My App is built on the Unity game engine, so maybe a Unity network specialist would know, but would he know about hooking up Unity to a Server side backend as well as what that server setup would require to fulfil my ambitions??

Or  do I ignore the fact that its on Unity and seek out a general networking expert who specialises more in server side problems, tell them my idea and then  work out the Unity side of things later?

What are these people even called?

Any Help to bring some kind of clarity would be useful to me.

CTO: chief technical officer. But if you're looking to hire someone on a temporary advisory basis: technology consultant. 

If you describe what it is you are looking to do, maybe someone on this forum will give you a head start for free.

Looking at this as a techinical question: "hooking up Unity to a Server side backend " could mean 10 different things. Each with 10 different solutions in different domains of expetrise.

Before shelling out money to a contractor, I suggest you decouple the "confidential" part of project from your networking requirements. Unless the networking part of your project *is* the confidential stuff. Being able to freely tell people about your networking challenge, while isolating the NDA parts of your project from it would make it easier to find a person to work with you.
