One question: "shadows" and "evolution" can be used as graphic reference instead of gameplay?
Negative, if you pick shadows and/or evolution it must factor into your game as a mechanical feature in some way. Same for the graphics themes in that they must be artwork driven and apart of the atomosphere for your game. This doesn't mean they can't have graphical/gameplay features as well, just that they need to also need to fit their intended category if you wish to get points for that theme.
I tossed and turned for several nights debating if i should or shoudnt enforce the distinction of which theme is which, and ultimatly i deceided to go with enforcing the distinction between the two.
Hmm... I have an idea that I quite like, but it arguably revolves more around darkness than shadows--a potentially dangerous distinction, depending on how the judges see it...
More thought is called for, I believe.
