Some people burn up their chicken. Some turn the food into charcoal. Then there's this:

I swear at first I wondered if it was some metal or something like that because it looks like lava, but nope, supposedly it was meant to be this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterscotch

Don't pay much attention to "the hedgehog" in my nick, it's just because "Sik" was already taken =/ By the way, Sik is pronounced like seek, not like sick.

Fat and sugar allowed to foam over and then catch fire. Not all that shocking, surprising, or even hard to do.

The impressive bit is how little smoke there is.

are we sure its real? the more I look at it the more something feels off about it.

Click bait?

Reminds me of when I was in chemistry class and my teacher added sulphuric acid to confectioners sugar.

I've burned things before, but I don't think I've ever botched something so bad that it looked like the freaking sun.

I've done similar to a sort of sugar-puff pastry thing before.

Also, pro-tip: Never trust a friend who rarely bakes but says their oven's dial is accurate... Headed back inside from the patio to change the temp for the last phase of cooking just in time to hear the smoke detector go off. Good times.

But can we HARNESS THE UNLIMITED POWER of that molten core?!

Today children, we will be learning to cook lava in home economics class...

IIRC, the original caption on that was something like "At work today, I forgot that I was making caramel"... so yep, someone left a big pot of sugar on the stove :)

That's a commercial kitchen though, so they probably can cook :P

i wonder how much smoke damage there was?

The pot has obviously been moved from the hob to help stop it burning...
