Well another year, another week is done! Congratulations to everyone whom competed! Creating a game in a week is no small task, and I am quite proud of what you guys accomplished! Once again I've compiled everyone's journals together and took notes of how many posts you did in the competition thread. I also made note of cross posting(responding to others, commenting on others journals). I compile this not just for us judges to use, but also for anyone who wants to go through each team's works, and see how they did things! Once again congrats to everyone whom competed, I think it's been another great year, and I've also taken plenty of notes on how to hopefully improve things for next year. This should give you a better sense of what scoring in each category means related to your game:[spoiler]Gameplay/fun: 25 pointsThis one is kind of subjective, but I tried to break it down similar to my other scores.0: I can't delete this game fast enough1-4: Bad. I had to fight the controls, and I didn't want to finish playing it, but I had to because I'm a judge. I have trouble seeing where you were trying to go with this.5-11: Poor. I can see where you were trying to go, but you didn't quite get there in the week's time. The fun factor just wasn't quite there. A little more time and you might have been able to squeeze some fun out of your chosen direction through mechanics tweaks, or levels.12-18: Decent. I had some fun playing your game and you should be proud. You made a game that is kind of fun in only a week's time.19-22: Good. I had more than a little fun with your game. Other people seeing a score this high should check out this game. I might even steal an idea or two from the game.23-24: Great. I had lots of fun in your game. Everyone should definitely check out this game.25: Damn this game is fun! I'll probably play this some more after the competition.Graphics: 20 points0: You're bad, and you should feel bad! I highly doubt I'll be handing this out to anyone. 1-3: The graphics are bad enough that it detracts from the rest of the game.4-9: Not great graphics, but it's a game jam. There's no need to be ashamed here, but next year you might want to look into some free assets.10-14: Decent graphics for a jam. Here's where you should start to feel pride in your accomplishment. You managed to make a game in a week and the art is decent15-17: Good graphics for a jam. I could see this in a real game.18-19: Great graphics for a jam. How'd you have time for that? O.o20: Holy crap! This could be in a high quality game.Theme: 20 points0: You heard the theme right? Death is useful. And you made a farming game? 1-3: Death was mentioned in passing.4-9: Death is technically useful in your game, but it's a stretch.10-14: You've met the goal of death being useful.15-17: Death is useful and you put an interesting twist on it.18-19: Great concept, clever interpretation, and good execution.20: Wow, what an amazing idea! Great execution too!Audio: 10 points0: There was sound, I turned it off. My ears are bleeding!1: Lack of sound or bad sound effects/music.2-4: You have sound but it isn't great.5-7: You have sound in your game and it wasn't bad.8: Good sound effects.9: Great sound effects for a game jam.10: These sound effects are amazing.First Time User Experience: 10 points0: The game crashes, it's buggy, no documentation, and counter intuitive.1: Hard to figure out, bad experience.2-4: Some installation issues. Game works most of the time. Could use better documentation.5-7: Everything works.8: Intuitive and enjoyable experience.9: Great job. I forgot this was a game that was built in only a week.10: Flawless. No installer. Disappointed with the results, but I understand. Congrats to those who won and for all of those people who showed up to the event! There is always next year.

Interesting note, we scored the same last year by saying "fuck the theme" as we did this year when we .... focused on the theme. Interesting.

Congrats all winners, and participants I feel like the games this year were considerably better than last year. Also I would personally like to thank the judges for the time and effort to go though all of those games. I will be back next year!

Congratulation to hu3 team! I've been trying to find time to play the games but alas to much work to catch up on for the past few weeks.

It was a lot of fun and I want to thank all the judges who tried to play our game and the comments you gave. This was a lot of fun but I'll be back next year to do it all again. Thanks!

We are really happy with our game, it's the first time that I won something in my life, haha xD

40+ youtube gameplays

and now we are going to expand it into a real game! :D

We already have a lot of cool mechanics to implement that we had not time to do...

Congratulations to the winners!

I am a bit confused though... The two worst reviews for our game were picked (Servant and Coozie), but swiftcoder also reviewed our game and rated it a 78... but it is not listed on the main sheet in the results... Is this an error? If I average all the reviews for our game I get 66.4, but the sheet says 63.5...

If I average my theme values:

14, 4, 15, 14, 9

I should get 11.2, but the sheet says 10.25...

I average the game play values:

13, 12, 20, 13, 10

I should get 13.6, but the sheet says 12...

I might be mistaken, but something seems fishy in the math here...

If I try the same average for the game play with Try. Die. Repeat, I get 25, 18, 25, 24 which is the same 23 that is listed in the sheet... so why are our averages not working out?

ah this is an oversight of mine, Swift had said he didn't do any of the optional games he was assigned, but seems to have done yours, which is why i didn't double check all of his reviews on paper. sorry about that.
