it will only run on PCs and some tablets
So, only on 98% of the devices out there?
EDIT: Never mind, you talked about XBox too, that's a good point.

Yeah, but VS2015 still comes with its oen redistributsble, just installed on Windows 10... I am also not sure how many developers will use Windows Store and pay MS to deliver their own software..
As I said, the new redistributable will be handed out over Windows Update.
It's worked well enough for DX versions above 9 when they moved that to an OS component updated via Windows Update, so no reason it won't work here.
And I imagine a lot of smaller devs would love to be on a store that comes pre-installed on all PCs, XBoxes, and some tablets and phones. That's something that Steam can't do. (Though of course if you're pushing a win32 app it will only run on PCs and some tablets)
I was talking about "big" devs. Let's image a world without java and adobe updaters... Looks nice, does it? However I cannot imagine Adobe selling it's software on Windows Store and Oracle putting his java "things" on MS servers... Of course, for small developers, Windows Store handling win32 apps, PC, XB1 and WM is something to consider about.
For those asking about pro without MSDN subscribtion, you can rent pro monthly at visual studio online, i use that (with pro) instead of a premium MSDN subscribtion (so much of the good features have been pushed down to pro i can't justify paying for premium much less ultimate)
VS2015 comes with Enterprise edition as the replacement for both Premium and Ultimate edition at the price of the Premium edition, which is nice for those requiring the "Uber" MSDN subscription.
