Seeking mentor/someone who can review my code as i am learning c++

I am currently doing a Diploma in Programming (Games Development).

However it is online based, the teachers are no help, my tasks don't get marked, i don't receive any feedback, and the learning material's are terrible.

Because of all this i am forced to learn entirely from online material with no real guidance.

I am seeking a mentor or someone who can guide me in the right direction while being able to review C++ my code and provide some support.

I am not requesting lessons, or a step by step guide, however i would appreciate feedback, advice and a push in the right direction.

Please note that I am still a beginner, so be ready for mistakes and stupid questions :P

Well if you're happy with public mentoring, you can always post parts of your code here and ask for comments.
People are generally quite free with their advice, as long as you take it constructively.

If you're looking for private feedback, that might be a bit harder as it's more of a time commitment.
if you think programming is like sex, you probably haven't done much of either.-------------- - capn_midnight

I don't think you'll find anyone with the time to do this unpaid. However if you're paying for that diploma at all you should get a refund and go elsewhere as that doesn't sound like an acceptable situation!

There are so many online tutorials for C++ it shouldn't be too difficult to find the information you need to learn.

If you have a few extra $, buy a couple used books ( that have been printed in the last 5 years ) .

I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me.

Hear, hear! (On both counts.) Post your code in For Beginners, and drop that school (and find a better one).

This is the critical part. The need for mentoring is a direct result of this. Is this school accredited? This sounds like a diploma mill, in which case you're wasting time and money. Any school that will not grade work should be suspect! When someone requests your transcripts, what will they say? "He always completed his work so I passed him." ?!

Hi there,

Maybe I can help you a bit, for example help you with

assignments if you need it, help you learning and understanding things,

etc. If you are interested, just PM me.

Cheers

The thing is, any accredited school will try to help him succeed. Him passing the course helps their numbers. A diploma mill doesn't care. They'll pass you so long as you pay.

I'm not suggesting we don't help. I'm suggesting that we shouldn't have to do so. Something isn't right.
