I think Spiro was very to the point, and honest. But on the other hand, I'm willing to bet most people here have had delusions of grandeur about their personal projects at one point or another. My first project was an attempt to create an MMO on the half life 1 engine, similar to Master sword but with much larger servers.
Of course it didn't work out, but that didn't matter, because by the end of struggling for 3~ months (How long it took me to realize all the issues with this), I learned a vast ammount, and it pushed me down the path of being a professional (non-game dev) programmer. If gamedev.net was around back then, I'd probably be the stupid 11 year old asking how to split .bsp maps into smaller zones. A post from someone with as much experience as Spiro similar to this one would probably discourage me more than anything.
Of course OP won't suceed with this project, I think we all know that. But if we encourage him to actually struggle with it, instead of flatly saying he doesn't belong in the industry, he may actually get some useful information out of it. Now, whether he'll perceive this thread as a challenge and struggle, or if he'll read the replies and be discouraged, or if he'll forget about this post and go play the games he mentioned is the real question.
