After reading the very well written tutorial i decided to try out the code, the first 3 examples worked like they should, but when building the exe of the last 2 i get this warning: "LINK : warning LNK4089: all references to "GDI32.dll" discarded by /OPT:REF" and starting the executable doesnt do anything at all. I considered e-mailing the author, but thought that perhaps it was best to ask here first, since its probably just me being an idiot.
