What?!
Markus Persson is no longer my god. Oh well. I don't really believe in gods anyway.

Yeah, I don't think anyone would say no to that offer. I'm just baffled by the amount of money. Microsoft must have some really impressive plans for the game. Either that or they have completely lost it.
I can't wait to sign into MineCraft with my Windows Live Account
I feel that I should note that, from what I've read, this isn't a case of a buyer approaching a previously-content developer: Notch has been quoted as saying that he has been wanting to get out of his position in charge of Mojang, and that he was unhappy in his position in charge of so large and so prominent an enterprise. Notch wanted to sell, and Microsoft wanted to buy.
your honestly telling me if someone offered you 2.5 billion dollars, you woudn't take it?
For myself, I can imagine situations in which I think that I wouldn't take the money--but then, again, this was a case in which Notch wanted to sell in the first place, from what I gather.
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I can't think of very many things that would prevent me from selling for 2.5 billion. With that cash I could fly myself to Mars and back and go down in the history books as the 1st person ever to step foot on another planet!

In this case, yes, I wouldn't take it.
It's a misleading question. He wasn't "offered" 2.5billion dollars, he sold his company for that. Personally, unless you're a bond villain, I really don't think anyone needs that kind of money. Notch was already a multi-millionaire, he had more than enough money to live well for the rest of his life without working another day.
On the other hand, it looks like it could be a great day for cancer research and breweries. Notch is a pretty awesome dude, so I hope he's taken the offer with a grand scheme in mind.
Also, "you're" not "your". Sorry, but that really annoys me.

Not even close. The most wildly optimistic lowest estimate (i.e. getting there via fairy dust and happy thoughts) are around 6 billion. Most reasonable estimates are north of 20.
Haha, you're fooling yourself if you think you wouldn't accept an offer like that. Besides, it's a lot easier to say you wouldn't take it when you've not been approached with the offer. Notch might not need the money himself, but not everyone thinks about themself only. I could give it to my extended family and to charity. In this case, no amount of money would be too much.
